Born on the shores of Lake Victoria and educated at local schools in Kisumu and later Nairobi, Rajabali graduated from high school and opted to live his life travelling extensively around East Africa whilst engaging in what was then known as ‘trade the bush’. This yearning for nature and village life helped shape the early formative years of Minaz who, upon graduation from high school, proceeded to the UK for further education in Financial Accounting. Upon his return and subsequent internship at an international audit and accountancy firm Minaz could not resist the lure of an outdoor life and in 1980 teamed up with his father, Rajabali to start a premier safari company to share the joy and excitement of living in Africa. The wisdom and extensive knowledge of East Africa of Rajabali and the strong financial background of the younger Manji were essential ingredients to success but, more importantly, the traditional hospitality of the Manji family made the difference in an industry full of international players! Ours was a vision to provide warm traditional African hospitality to all our guests visiting East Africa rather than have a number attached to every client.
We are proud and delighted to offer our personal warmth and care to every visitor who arrives as a client but leaves as part of the extended Manji family.
Shazmin and Rahim, Minaz’s two children, returned home a couple of years ago after graduating from universities in Canada and the United Kingdom to join the family business. They bring into the company a wealth of innovative ideas, business acumen and above all, their warm traditional African hospitality – a family combination that surpasses any in the industry and one that will ensure our guests continue to receive the same warm African hospitality that has been a tradition for the past 27 years.
