Day 1: Arrival in Lake Naivasha

JAMBO – KARIBU!! Warmly met upon arrival at the airport with our traditional, unique & special welcome (bubbly, wet towels and presentation of authentic safari hat and a beautiful authentic canvas pouch filled with safari essentials).

You will then drive down to Kiambethu Tea Farm Visit; Guests are supposed to be at the farm at 1100hrs, it is one of Kenya’s oldest tea farms. It’s a family run business run by Marcus and Fiona Mitchell and it is here where they’ll get to enjoy a ‘tea luncheon’ with them.

The farm dates back to 1910 and the present house, set amidst colorful gardens, has been home to four generations. At the farm, guests will be given an insight into the tea making process followed by an opportunity to see tea in the field. They can also take a short walk into the small indigenous forest and learn about the plants and how they were used traditionally, watch the Colobus monkeys and birds that are resident in the gardens or just enjoy the sweeping views across the tea fields.

Note: Kiambethu is open Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday.
They are also not open on the last working day of the month.

There after you will drive to Lake Naivasha with its commanding setting at the foot of the Rift Valley Escarpment. You will stop by the Great Rift Valley View Point for a glimpse of the breath taking scenery before proceeding to Lake Naivasha. Lake Naivasha is an important horticultural area of Kenya, famous for her teeming diverse bird species, scenic climate and tranquillity.

Your first stop will be Hell’s Gate National Park – only National Park in Kenya which visitors are free to leave their vehicle and walk in the Park. Hell’s Gate is famous for its natural hot geysers, eagle and vulture breeding grounds, visitors have the choice of driving, walking, camping, cycling and rock-climbing within the park. You will partake in a cycling experience. Enjoy the spectacular views of the gorge. The walking trip or safari takes 3 hours.

You will then proceed to your hotel for check in, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Lake Naivasha

Enjoy an early morning breakfast then proceed for a guided hiking to Mount Longonot whose peak stands at 2780 meters. The Mountain is a dormant volcano. It has a crater at the top with a thick forest inhabited by various animal species. Hiking to the top and round the crater rim will take us around 5 hours. Quite an experience it is. From the Mountain top, you will have a breath-taking view of Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru and the vast Great Rift Valley.

Return to your lodge in time for lunch and freshening up. In the afternoon you will depart on a boat ride in Lake Naivasha to the Crescent Island where we have Masai giraffe, zebra, dik diks, steenbok, impala and gazelles. It is quite liberating to walk among the giraffe and zebra with no fences or barriers between you and the wildlife! (however you may not see all the animals indicated)

Return to the lodge for Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Masai Mara Game Reserve

A hearty early morning breakfast then drive to the Masai Mara National Reserve, offering wonderful scenery and plenty of game.

We arrive at our camp to a very warm welcome for lunch, some leisure. This afternoon is the moment we have been longing for – we depart on an exciting game viewing drive. The Rolling plains and grasslands, stretching far into the horizons as far as the eye can see is home to the black-manned lion, the savannah elephant, the Cape buffalo, wildebeests, the elusive leopard, cheetah, the spotted & stripped hyena, the rhino, topi, burchelle’s zebra, the Maasai giraffe among many others.

The Mara game reserve is one that can never disappoint. One is spoilt by the variety of bird and wildlife species in this game reserve. For a long time, Mara Game Reserve has stubbed her authority as the ‘granary’ of wildlife in Kenya.

We return back to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Sumptuous breakfasts then we depart for a full day adventure. Be on the look-out for the big five that Maasai Mara is famous for. These include the lion, savannah (African) elephant, the Cape buffalo, the leopard and the black rhino.

In the early 20th century, Kenya was a famous hunting destination. Killing any of the big five game one pride, a sense of class, a feeling of heroism. We may even be so lucky to witness a leopard or a cheetah sprint and make a kill!

We will visit a traditional Masai Manyatta (off the beaten track) and experience the culture of this world famous community. The Masai still live as they did for centuries -interact with these nomadic people and experience their way of life as you learn about their customs and traditions.

We return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES:

Balloon Safari over the Mara plains followed by a champagne breakfast.
